ABOUT OUR 2019 FESTIVAL Our 2019 LongShotz Festival will be comprised of three original one-act plays commissioned specifically for the production. Our process is unique in the Bay Area because we devise an overarching festival theme and assign casts to the playwrights. The playwrights then create an original one-act play, written specifically for their assigned actors, over four weeks.
Once completed, the scripts are handed over to the directors and actors for a four week rehearsal period. This year, we are excited to commission new plays by three diverse playwrights, including Morgan Gould, Chad Callaghan and Patricia Cotter.
Our 2019 theme is Disruption Junction, and the plays will focus on the intersection between technology and societal structure in the contemporary world. The goal is to produce a collection of plays that capture a variety of perspectives around the theme to inspire dialogue among our community and audience members.
THEATRE BAY AREA CA$H GRANT AmiosWest is thrilled to be a recipient of the CA$H Grant. This generous grant allows us to continue the fearless, inclusive, high-quality, professional work we’ve done so far. In exploring the Disruption Junction theme, we encourage our playwrights to create artistically challenging pieces for our talented actors and directors. Another unique facet to the LongShotz festival will be the novelty of watching three, thirty-minute world-premieres in a single night.
Risk taking is an important part of theatre work, and LongShotz allows our artists and audiences - regardless of race, gender identity, age, size, or orientation - to experience something new, something bold, something free from the limitations put on traditional performance pieces.
DONATE Although this generous grant has guaranteed that we will produce our 2019 LongShotz: Disruption Junction Festival, we still need your donations. We are hoping to raise an additional $2,500 to increase our artist stipends, pay for rehearsal space, and increase the production values.
Your donations are tax-deductible through our fiscal sponsorship with Fractured Atlas. Donate $100 or more to be listed as a Producer on our website, and donate $250 or more for Executive Producer credits. A donation of $1,000 will be credited as a Festival Sponsor.
